Online petition to bring in a Black-focused curriculum into schools, we’ve received 4680 signatures and counting
Community
Organized community meetings with affected Lord Byng families, community members & stakeholders / met with the VSB, VPD, City of Vancouver, and BC’s Office of the Human Rights Commissioner.

Organized community roundtable in partnership with the BC Government’s Ministry of Attorney General’s Multiculturalism Office on the Policing and Public Safety Modernization (PPSM) Initiative
Legislative Action
Advocated, organized and collected community data to inform the 2024 Anti-Racism Act that became law on June 2, 2024. It requires the BC provincial government to create and support an anti-racism strategy that will identify and address racism in public policies, programs and services. In doing this, the aim is to make B.C. a more equitable place for Indigenous and racialized people.
Legislative Action
Advocated, organized and collected community data to inform the 2022 Anti-Racism Data Legislation Act that became law on June 2, 2022. It allows the BC provincial government to safely collect and use information to address systemic racism.
Advocacy and Action
Advocated, organized, and submitted a separate class complaint case about anti-Black racism in schools with the Human Rights Tribunal.
Speaking Up
Spoke at the VSB’s Policy & Governance meeting and supported Trustee Jennifer Reddy’s “Responding to Hate-Motivated Crimes” motion; the motion was officially adopted by the VSB on December 16th, 2019.
Service and Policy Complaint
Filed a Service & Policy Complaint against the VPD for its handling of the Lord Byng incident through the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner.
