EMPOWERING BLACK FUTURES. BUILDING COMMUNITY-LED VENTURES.
Our Journey Launched as a pilot in 2022, SSLP has grown into a provincial movement. Through a strategic partnership with the NBA Foundation in 2023, we’ve delivered 4 successful cohorts across 2024–2025 and supported 120+ Black youth through a mix of in-person, virtual, and hybrid programming.
SSLP now lives both on the ground and online, offering live accelerator tracks that we have called the builders tier and webinars on demand to expand access to all corners of the province.
OUR JOURNEY
Discover the milestones that have shaped the BC Community Alliance and the Support for Student Learning Program.
2022 – Program Launch
The Support for Student Learning Program was launched as a pilot initiative to address educational disparities and support Black youth in British Columbia.
2025 – Cohort Graduation
After supporting 70 youth and celebrating with them in 2024 with over 140 people in attendance at our community gala, we decided to have a pitch competition in 2025.
The spring 2025 cohort of the SSLP successfully completed the program, achieving an important goal in our journey to empower Black futures.
2026 – Launch of Youth Entrepreneurship
We introduced the Community Venture Hub, providing young entrepreneurs with the skills and support needed to launch successful ventures. We specialise in Food, Media, Music, and product based entreprenurs. We leverage industry leaders to teach bite-sized for our learners.
2023 – Partnership with NBA Foundation
In collaboration with the NBA Foundation, we expanded our reach and resources, enabling us to support more youth through innovative programming.
2025 – Acquiring a physical space
Following a strategic partnership via City of Vancouver, we acquired a physical space to expand our programming to support Black youth 14-24 with our builders tier.
